In this world of destruction we live in, does funding charity organisations like UNICEF or Red Cross help the human kind? Are charities doing enough? And why have more than one world organisation for charity?

Unfortunately, suffering is nearly universal thoughout the world, even in industrial nations. Many factors contribute to it, factors such as: lack of food, lack of money, oppressive regimes, war, etc. A good majority for the reasoning is politics. Indeed, all over the world there are governments that would far rather increase their military prowess than care for their people. Indeed, a few years ago, global military spending was totaled at $750 Billion per year, though this was prior to the Iraq war.

The next main contributor to suffering is lack of planning. Indeed, allowing population levels to rise unchecked creates more mouths to feed. As a result, there may not be enough food to go around for everyone if additional resources are pre planned to accommodate the extra population.

Finally, when you get down to it, charities don't spend all of the donations on the intended causes. While indeed there are overhead costs, I can think of several accounts where funds were completely mis-managed, both here in the US and internationally. Some have included extremely high salaries for upper administrators of the charity, something that I highly disagree with.

Currently, charities are not enough and never will be. Until we as a species have a change in mindset, on the global level, we will always have this problem.

I guess the alternative is to DO SOMETHING YOURSELF. Charities do what they can with what they have. They are often bound by the politics of the countries they work in and the resources they have. If you don't feel they make enough of a difference to the world then there is really only one solution

funding charities helps a little, but certainly not enough, since there is still much sorrow and pain in our world.
if there was a single world charity organization, it would be gigantic, and it;s coordination will take most of it's income.
