Looks do help attract you to someone initially. But once you get to know someone, you really don't care about looks because you do not see them the same way as a person who does not know them sees them. They see the outward appearance and you see them for who they are. So yes, looks are important. But, it matters what you are looking at - appearances or the whole person.

If you are an ego driven person who has to have a Barbie or Ken on your arm to impress , then I guess it is impportant.
If you are a normal well-adjusted, secure person
are are not a raving beauty or handsome, I think it doesn't really matter. Although the attraction has to be there and the chemistry, it is not always with the most beautiful looking people.
There is a tendancy for good lookin' persons to be very conceited and arrogant and think everyone owes them something. This will make normal people run in the other direction.
So I guess, who you are inside would tell you if it was important or not.
We all are going to age, loose out looks, get wrinkles, hair falls out, get cellulite and gravity will set in...
If you don't have a great relationship down deep, how would you ever face aging?????

Looks are much more important in the earlier phases of the relationship...The earlier the phase, the more important the looks.
No one wants to live with an a'sshole, no matter how attractive they are ....But....most people will sleep with them a few times if they are good looking...

Personally looks are not all that important to me - when I met my husband I certainly wasnt attracted to him because of his looks - I started talking with him and I found his life experiences to be interesting - we then started meeting up more and more and next thing you know we are happily married - I do like his bum but hes no stunner and Im no super model - I can honestly say that looks didnt come into our relationship it was a more deep and meaningful attraction.

Yes, but not as much as attraction. I've been attracted to guys I wouldnt consider good looking. Maybe some people honestly do not care about looks, but I'm sure most do.

see, that's why relationships fall short to this day.looks are not important, i would rather have someone who is nice, and respectful than a sexy dude who treats me like a dog, so looks are not eveything, just as long as you don't be too ugly, i mean really!

Looks are important, but different looks appeal to different people! People may look utter **** and they still find people who fall in love with them and think they look gorgeous. Looks are subjective. What we need is people who thinks we look beautiful.
