Yes it will help slow you down.
Thats is why the xanax was prescribed. Take a dose and see how you feel in 20 to 30 minutes. If the problem persists see your Doctor.

Doctors do not prescribe Xanax for a rapid heart rate, they give it for anxiety. Now if anxiety is the problem, take the Xanax as directed. If it's not, try relaxing techniques and get your mind off of yourself. Sounds like you're having panic attacks. Get some help. Godloveya.

It sounds to me like you are having heart palpitations. If that's the case then you should NOT take any medication right now. You need to get in to see your doctor to find out why you are having this problem. Medications can affect your heart in lots of different ways so you need to be careful in what you take. Especially anything that would thin your blood out like aspiring for example. But definitely check with your doctor immediately. You could take a xanax and end up passing clean out.

Xanax can actually INCREASE nervousness IF you have been on it a long time. It starts to have the opposite effect.
I woundn't use Xanax too long term though because it can cause loss of memory, with very long term use.
If your doctor has you on 1.5 mg of Xanax you might want to try taking .50mg , 3 x a day
Whatever your dose split it up intho 3 x a day BUT MAKE SURE it is the RIGHT TOTAL AMOUNT.

You already know you are having panick attacks. Yes, Xanax is the best drug on the market for them. Prozac usually helps also. I have been on Xanax for over 20 years. Don't be afraid to use it.

Have you asked a doctor? Has he bothered to look at the results of your most recent blood work? Maybe there's something you're missing in your diet? There's much you don't mention, like your age. A doctor might know this but often doctors don't tend to think for long about things.

Your heart really isn't that high. It's most likely anxiety related. Ask a doctor, I'm sure they'll tell you the same thing. Many blessings to you.
