He's probably just over reacting to all the feelings of his body. I wouldnt worry about it.

Growing pains are usually later in the day and at night, since all the activity of the day exhausts the muscles and causes cramps.

Everyone in my family got growing pains, to the point that we'd wake up screaming in pain and had to take childrens tylenol.

My thought is that he's an active child and his body gets sore keeping up. Which is pretty normal for kids that age :)

Probably actually cramps from an active day, Growing pains are usually felt in the legs in late evening and at night. I know they are real. I had them as a child. My 4-year-old has them. He kicks in his sleep and wakes up crying. I give him Motrin and rub his legs til he goes to sleep again. It doesn't sound like your son is having this if his finger and such hurts. Maybe he just needs a little extra mommy-time. Give him a sugar-free candy and a short story--just you and him!!!!

My son wakes in the middle of the night with leg cramps. We give him a couple of glasses of gatorade a day. Make sure he gets plenty of water, fruits, and veggies. He may be growing faster then his body can handle. Up the fluids and give him some gatorade. If this does not help then talk with your doctor. He may just want extra attention.

Children are very active and something is always growing. He could just be having growing pains but if it seems severe, take him to the doctor to have it addressed.

Growing pains are real....and my child grows in big "spurts" and has them a lot. It is normal as everything is stretching and growing. If he complains of long bone pain (Like legs or hips) and has a high fever, you need have him checked out. Other than this circumstance, it is perfectly normal.

if the pain is in his heel and he is active in athletics he may have legitimate complaint. there is condition called Sever's disease that several young boys get, go to myfootshop.com and check out the articles and see if that helps. use the source as direct link to article. good luck! it is something that with a few exercises and lifts in shoes that heals over time. if you need more a discussion forum with a doctor is available also.

My 7 year old does this at night. With his legs mostly, have him take a warm bath. It will do the trick!
