After you marry him, you need to apply for a Green Card from the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS.gov), if he is already in the US. You apply at the US Embassy if you're abroad. You must be prepared to be grilled to determine that this is a 'real" marriage. When INS is satisfied, they might give him a temporary permit to work until they give him a Green Card, or make him wait for the Green Card.

What is your status? If you are a US citizen or an exempt national (noncitizen national of the USA) and fiancé(e) is abroad then you need to go through the fiancé (K-1) or spouse (K-3) or other sponsoring process. Citizens of Belau and Marshall Islands, and First Canadians have special rights.
If you hold an A or a G visa, then your spouse is entitled to a family visa of the same class, gratis and automatically. If the spouse is physically present in the USA, your employer (foreign mission or UN, etc.) will arrange it with the State Department.
If you are a foreign national on a work permit or green card then you need to go through a more rigorous sponsorship process. There may be a delay waiting for a visa number: http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/spouselive.htm
(the delay can be avoided if the spouse gets a job meanwhile working in his or her country's diplomatic mission in the USA).

You should have already filed an I-130 Petition for him. This must be done from outside the USA and usually takes no less than 3 months. The immigrant must remain outside the USA during this time. Get an immigration attorney.

Yes, but this is no longer automatic. Too many people were marrying for convenience, so he will have to establish residency himself. Your marriage will help, but is not a guarantee of residency. See the rules at the Immigration web site.
