Try buying a scanner?

I have the same problem with my 4 in 1 printer..
Scanner just didn't work, but I tried re-installing the SOFTWARE that came with it.. FIRST UNINSTALLING THE OLD printer software and then re-attempting the install, Including the imaging software, not just the drivers etc.
eg try running the setup on the Printer cd again.
