As a woman I can definitely answer this question. First of all I think that always is not a good word as we are not always cold & secondley you need to be a woman to understand. But lets try in any case:

Normally we like to say we are cold just for a cuddle but if we are really cold and it is not that cold, it can be 2 things:
It can either be our hormones playing around especially if it is that time of the month.
Or it can also be because of a womans weight. Scientifically speaking if you why more the changes being cold is must smaller as if you are weighing les. Men always weigh more than 60kg. Is'nt it?

Men have more heat-generating muscle mass. Muscles are well supplied with blood vessels. The more muscle, the more blood flow and the more warmth.

Women have a higher vasoconstriction threshold temperature. Vasoconstriction is the process by which, as the external temperature falls, blood flow to the skin is restricted in order to divert blood to internal organs, thus maintaining core temperature. The theory: as ambient temp falls, women shut off blood flow to the skin sooner in order to provide more warmth to their unborn babies, so they feel colder. Interesting idea but as yet unproven--though women do seem to have lower skin temperature when exposed to cold.

Women get colder during menstruation. Supposedly this is due to anemia, hormonal changes, etc. However, most studies haven't shown much difference between menstruating and nonmenstruating women in terms of heat response. As you say, female aversion to cold doesn't seem to be confined to a particular time of the month.

I've also heard it claimed that men feel warmer because they wear three-piece suits and get offices with south-facing windows, whereas women are apparently shivering in rags in the dark. Setting aside the gross generalizations in this picture, when's the last time you saw anybody except a lawyer wear a three-piece suit?

This is a primal and involuntary response to the presence of an attractive potential mate. If you notice, you are interested in her well-being. If you offer the sheepskin throw off your back, you are thoughtful. If you wrap her in it and draw her close, you are possibly THE ONE. Or at least worth the time of day.

If she's also blatantly underdressed then she's probably trying to initiate all of the above and you may have missed the boat by typing your question instead of practising your chivalrous advances!

A lot of women are anemic. We do bleed for almost a week every month! Or, they could just want to be held. I do that sometimes. But, for the most part, when I say I'm cold, its cause I'm cold.

A good question.

Men (I believe) have 5 layers of fatty tissue, whereas Women have 7 layers. But it's always been my experience that the woman has always felt the 'chill' first! And I have questioned this. But no one has ever had an answer.

Sash.

We are cold all the time because most of us are anemic. Every month we bleed for 5 to 7 days and we don't have enough iron in our blood.

I think one reason could be fashion. Women always want to wear fashionable clothing, which is often made of thin material. They also like to show off their bodies, so they wear skimpy clothing. Thus, unless it is about 23 degrees Celsius or higher, they will get cold.

This sure is a tendancy, but not the rule: My Mom-in-law sets her a/c to sub-arctic temperatures as she's always too hot otherwise! It might have something to do with being a kinda big.
I think it might have something to do with one's build. Any comments about skinny girls thinking it's cold while big girls think it's hot?
