Wear latex gloves if you have them so your hands and nails don't get stained from the juice. Cut the fruit in half and start breaking it apart with your hands in a large bowl filled with water like a mixing bowl. As you break the fruit apart, all the seeds should loosen off the rind and the inner membrane without popping or damaging the seeds. I can't remember if the seeds float to the top and the rind sinks in the water or the other way around but it's a lot less messy than any other way I've tried.

For the life of me i don't see what the huge craze for pomegranates are about. It tastes louzy, bitter rather buy the juice. Too much hard work peeling and eating the fruit. We used to have pomegranate trees way back and we never ever ate the things. But enjoy. I know we used to cut slits into the peels, then peeled it away, the pith is absolutely bitter so avoid eating the parts between the little fruits. Or you will be sorry, as bitter as hell.:)))

When I was small, we used to use pins to pick out the fruit. Now i just cut them in half and break them apart and all the seeds tend to fall out. Just make sure you separate all the bitter tasting pith. I adore pomegranates and could eat about 6 a day but I find they stain my fingers.

You don't peel a pomegranate. You cut it in half and scoop out the seeds. The seeds are the edible part of the fuit, but you just suck the juice and pulp off of them and spit them out. It's really tedious.

Cut the fruit in half, then pick out the fruit with a small fork or toothpick. Unfortunately there is no easy or quick way to do this.
