It's more like you become UN-religious.

atheism is a lack of religion rahter than a religion. We do not worship or even meet regulary, it is a personal choice in the way that Buddhism is a personal religion and doesn't involve congregation in the sense christianity does.

If you wish to be an atheist all you have to do is ask yourself if you really believe in a god or a spiritual world that will change your life if you pray to it. If you think not, if you think the world relies on things you can touch, that your own actions change your life and that difference over religion has caused insurmountable harm upon the world, then you may be an atheist. Also if you wish your actions to be your own and responsible by you and not religious text or doctrine you may be an atheist.

If this is the case, congratulations on this difficult choice to stand up for what you believe in even if it is a minority view. We have no mandates or thigns you have to ascribe to, but personally I would ask you not violently or harshly attack the religious and live your life the best you see fit to show others that things such as living a good and decent life can be achieved without religion

Atheism isn't a religion that you join. There are no guidelines. It's a state that you arrive at on your own - it's an individual journey.

I don't recommend making atheism your goal, which is how you sound to me. Don't force yourself to fit into ANY religion, even a non-religion.

There's no rush. You're young, so just let nature take its course. Study religions if you want; examine your thoughts. You'll arrive at your own conclusions, and once you do, you can find a religion - or not - that fits YOU, rather than the other way around.

You become an Atheist just by getting more intelligent and educated on reality.
It is not a religion ,but a way to process fiction and reality .
We don`t believe in anything that can`t be proven, touched ,heard seen or felt.
We put god ,and jesus on a shelf with the easter bunny ,santa clause and the toothfairy..
We believe in the scientific and medical advances made by humans ,and we give those people credit for their accomplishments.

Athiesm isn't a religion, it's the complete opposite, it's a lack of religion bsaed upon the idea that God doesn't exist.

If you're not sure but you think that orgnised religion is all wrong and you'd rather not be religious despite whether you believe God is there or not then you're agnostic.

But yeah, it doesn't require any particular ethinicity, just a clear head and a free mind.

the real question here is why atheism? when there are 350 other religions to look into. i am a spiritualist which basicaly means to accept all as equals and to love nature and self. its more of a way of life than anything else just keep that in mind since atheism is closing yourself off from any form of spiritual growth.

atheist believe solely in science and proof of everything and if you cant see proof of anything then you are a atheist to the core. asians btw are normaly buddhist and if you want you can always look into that belief as well.

Atheism isn't a religion, it's a lack of religion. To be an atheist, you have to be able to say that you don't believe God (or any gods) exist, you don't believe in sin, a soul, etc.

To become one, you simply relinquish your faith. If you have doubts, you are agnostic. Atheists don't care about a person's race, ethnicity, or other such things for the most part, and there's no organization.

You don't "join" it in the sense that you join a church. For some of us it happens in time due to the triumph of reality over myth, deception, and disappointment. Atheism is not a religion; its a lack of believing in "theos", god.

Atheism isn't a religion. Just stop believing and you've become an atheist.

There is no initiation at all, just start thinking for yourself and face reality. The only requirement is to not believe there is a god.
