Males will kill the pups so the female will go back into heat and can be bred again.
You never let any dog other than the mother around the puppys EVER.
Other dogs even the father (only you know he is the father) will or can kill pups. Dogs do not understand family dynamics or the realtionship between them. That is a human thing not a dog thing.

Because an intact males instinct is to kill any thing that might be a threat to his reproduction - which means helpless, easy kill pups. Cats do it to - I'm a cat breeder and a male stud cat will do the SAME thing. A mother kills offspring when extremely stressed to the point they are sure the offspring will be harmed by what they think the threat is OR thier motherly senses tell them there's something wrong, health/mental wise with the offspring, so they kill it - a defective offspring is a liablity and to an animal, that attracts preditors to the otherwise healthy offspring something all animals with new babies want to eliminate. Sometimes they don't kill sickly offspring, they just move it away from the nest, lay on it or refuse to feed it.

There is nothing strange about it. Male dogs are very territorial and do not like competition. Therefore, seeing the puppies as competition...he killed them. It is well known fact that you should "Never" under any circumstances leave the father around the pups..

male dogs are not fatherly. They will kill their own young for status and to mate again. always keep fathers away from the mother and her pups until the puppies get old enough to walk around.

males sometimes kill the new borns so they can breed again
-try not to let any dog but the mother by her puppies
also if a larger dog goes to play with them, if can be fatal because older dogs dont realize that puppies are fragile- babies.

main idea- keep puppies seperate, only Mom can see them until they're bigger

Males sometimes do this. Only the mother should be allowed around the puppies until they are much older.

I think you got alot of good advice already on this question, I just want to add my cud-dos for the fact KEEP ALL OTHER ANIMALS AWAY FROM THE PUPPIES! Maybe think of it like this: the puppies are the kids and you are a social worker! Protect them, they cannot protect themselves.

if anyone touched them or they were sick than he would kill them but some males usually kill the puppies because they dint want to put up with them so if you have another litter bring them and the mom in alone
