no worries... it's just how the tetnus shot works.
a denatured virus is injected into your arm, so while you are not in real danger, the affected area of the shot will feel symptoms of tetnus while your body learns how to fight off the virus again.
real tetnus causes muscle cramps and locking, the booster just causes pain.
should be fine to do whatever he/she does again in no-time.

Tetnus shots hurt for a long time. When I has my last booster my arm hurt for two weeks. It's just a irritation of the tissues in the arm. No worries unless he is sick with other symptoms.

This is completely normal, so don't be alarmed. Tenderness is very common after shots, and could last for up to a week. At that point, if the arm is still hurting, you should call a doctor just to make sure.

It's normal to hurt for a few days. I once almost severed a few of my fingers and only cried from the after-pain of the shot ! If the pain is still as bad on day 3, check with the hospital or doctor. Get your child to rest the arm on a pillow.

The last tetnis shot I got hurt my arm for three or four days. It just has to do with the way your body reacts and the way the shot was given. If she isn't better after two more days call the doctor.

Last tetanus booster I had hurt like H*ll! And I'm a lot older than 12. It hurt for over a week.
I had them inject the right shoulder so I could work it out quicker, but it still hurt big time!
As long as kid isn't feeling sickly, isn't running a high fever, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just keep an eye on him/her.
