For everyone, those who believe in the Christian God and those who do not, the love of self will always affect what they do. One can never fully give oneself to the One God because we are all sinful by nature and not readily willing to give our lives to the One True Holy God Almighty.

You should absolutely love yourself no matter if you belong to a religious faith, are atheist, agnostic, humanist, etc. Self love keeps us well grounded (get your mind out of the gutters for those who are looking at these words the wrong way). Self love means accepting everything about yourself, flaws and all. True love for oneself means ignoring negatives being said about yourself by another and knowing that you are the wonderful person that you are.

When I see genuine proof (delivered in prepositional, first-order, or second-order logic) of the existence of a god at all, we can talk about what I believe of that one god.

Until then, I do not believe there is a god of any kind.

I'd like to think GOD would want us to love ourselves yes. But that is a thin line away from boasting, that , He clearly doesn't like according to the bible.
But that is exactly why people call life a gift. We only can recieve from God what we are willing to accept.

doesn't bother me at all after all we are only the caretakers of this earth while we are living on it then the duties will fall to the next generation. we actually own nothing not even our souls and spirits as these belong to THE HIGHER POWERS who gave them to us.
