A woman lives on the 28th floor of a block of flats. Every morning when she goes to work she takes the lift down to the ground floor.
Every evening when she comes back home again she only takes the lift to the 18th floor. She then walks the rest of the way up the stairs. She is not a 'keep fit fanatic', so why do you suppose whe does this?

No the lift is not broken. How else would it start at the 28th floor in the morning?

she is not tall enough to reach the button for 28th but can reach the other buttons so she goes as high as she can....ten points please! :)

Too late as usual but there is a bit more to this riddle, change the second para to read "Every evening when she comes home and its not raining she takes the lift to the 18th floor but when its raining she goes to the 28th floor. Shes not a " keep .......etc.....
(This answer brings the umbrella into play!).

does the woman walk to the down to the 18th floor in the morning before getting in the lift as it doesn;t mention anything about that and the lift may only go to the 18th floor.

As said above ... she can only reach up as high as the 18th button and so has to walk up the stairs. You'll have to quit now!

when the lift opened on the 18th floor...jack bauer came inside...once jack realized she was a terrorist..she bolted past him and ran up to the 28th floor...she is still in hiding in her room..no worry, jack will find her..and he will interrogate her to the fullest extent

Because there a drunker watching the lift and in the morning he drunker had a headache so he won't woke up early
