Yes. It's not always related to jealousy though. In most cases one women gets 'caddy' or 'mean' towards another simply due to ENVY.
It can be clothing, neat fingernails, snazzier shoes, better color-matching skills, neater hair, prettier face or body... But this is always in the eye of the beholder.
A real hazard between women is when one woman is just plain happier than others and it shows. If it's job based, relationship based, happier with her kids, etc., it never matters. One woman deems herself less than another and then the real crab rises to the surface just from the envy she feels.
Most women judge one another all the time. They also do this with men. The trouble is most the time they never notice it even after being told and they have no clue how to curb their feelings.
A real question could be, "Which women stand out as those who appear to be mean to others for no apparent reason?" (This includes their attitudes towards men!) Such as when they see a good-looking guy and immediately make the judgment that he's a 'Player' (just based upon his looks) and in reality he's just happy, content and confident. Happy women see the guy as wonderful and crabby/unhappy/envious women see the guy as a player.
As always their 'reasoning' turns into a lame excuse when in fact the bottom line is they're not happy with themselves and they resort to dissing others due to their own short-comings.
Some women do care when other women act like this and others could care less.
Men on the other hand notice it right off and if you're a woman unable to find a 'real man' you may want to look into your attitude towards this issue. This is basically where it all starts (and ends) with finding good men.

I'm polite to people I meet up face. Even if I know they don't deserve it, I have to and want to be polite as possible to save my butt in case anything bad happens (security). Maybe if you are nice and say hello, open doors for people (men love that), talk to people, ask them how they are doing, people, no matter how they look, will be nice to you. I usually don't have problem with women. It's teen or young adult males that I have a problem with because they can't stand a woman who has athority. Oh and the fact that I have short hair makes it worse. I have gotten yelled at by a woman who was bigger and older because she wasn't following the rules about a pool that she had signed an agreement about. She made a comment about how I wear bikinis. I told her that I do not wear bikinis (I was 45 pounds overweight and I have scars all over my back) in a very polite manner and wrote everything down. Oh and that question just shows that maybe you are too full of yourself.

Yes. Women judge other women all the time. Something as simple as the clothes another women wears, or the way they put on makeup, can evoke catty remarks from another woman. Even if they don't know anything about the other woman.

YES!! every damn day!!! And we're suppose to STAND together in the fight for this and the fight for that!!
Women are so 2 faced and back stabbing.
They find it hard to compliment each other, I mean, to compliment a stranger! They just look you up and down like your the ugliest thing ever, and you know you look great that day!
Women are in compition with each other...........it's either who can find and KEEP the best husband, the one with the most money, and who cares about if their loved or not. OR for the single gals, it's a compition as to how many men I can sleep with before you do, and yet keep her dignity.
If a woman can't compete, she let's herself blend in with the wall paper! NOT COOL!!

I have always found it hard to be friends with women.. It seems like when I get close to another woman something always happens. Maybe it is a competition thing.

We usually size each other up. Its all in the aura of the person, sometimes someone just rubs u the wrong way for no reason, mostly personality clashes really.

This is so in practice especially if she sees the other woman as a competitor. By nature woman are suspicious and jealous. This is primarily due to insecurity syndrome with which most woman are afflicted.

There is always a good reason.
Envy, jealousy,self-consciousness
some threat awareness.

However there is usually an underling reason. It could be jealousy, and usually is.
