Okay, here's my problem... i have a paper due tomorrow. i've worked 3 days on it and i nearly finished. Then i decide to save it. THen i thought i "saved as" on the wrong file. Instead of saving it "proposal" i saved it as "invitation" . So then i saved it again with the file name "proposal". But it didn't save. Thinking that i saved it at "proposal", i opened the "invitation" and removed all the text. i saved it so now it's a blank document (it's not deleted, it's just a blank document). Then i opened proposal and ofund out that i didn't save it. So now all my 3 days work is gone.

does anyone know how to undo something after saving and closing the file??? i really need help.

thanks

If you ask a computer security consultant they may be able to help - it's almost impossible to truly delete something without very specialised software. That's what I did when someone who shall remain nameless reformatted my C-drive without asking me if I had anything on it and I lost the lot. It cost a bit but I got almost everything back in the end. That's the best I can think of, sorry.

Or, it's possible it, or parts of it, may still be available if you have a trawl through DOS. (I'm assuming you're using MS Word.) I can't remember the command but I remember a techie friend of mine pulled a deleted document out using DOS once. It was a bit fragmented but most of it was there.

Or, if the paper's for a school or college, is there an IT teacher there that could help?

Good luck!

well.... I have worked on a help desk in a level 1 and level 2 capacity for several years. Now i write support articles for my company on various software including office.
The only option that is out there, but isn't guaranteed, is how to recover a deleted file but to date there is no option once you have saved the file, to recover changes. All changes to the file are recorded and once it is closed they are gone. I would be interested to try anyone's suggestion if they think they can do it. But I'm sorry, if you were one of my customers, i would have to tell you that you will need to start over.
The best that

If you have indeed tried the suggestions that people have made in both the questions you have asked and nothing has worked, then you had better get started on redoing your paper. Everyone runs into a "why you should save two copies of vital stuff" events at least once in their lifetime. Rewriting a paper is a cheep way to learn. Good luck.

ok..heres' the other poblem..you posted this question twice now? You MUST be desperate.

If you did not save the document properly, it is LOST forever. Sorry.

Try SEARCHING for the Document and see if by chance it is on your Harddrive somewhere.

Start/Search type name of file hit Search.
