These people who all say age doesn't matter are not thinking of the future. Sure when u are 20 and the person is 40 maybe u can make it work, but what about when u turn 40 and now this person is 60?? If it's a fling u are looking for then yes age doesn't matter, but if it's a future u are looking for then it does for sure. If the gap is tooooo big you won't have the same interests, or goals in life, and the age gap will come into affect. I personally think no more than a 5 year gap is best in the long run.

I don't think there are set rules and regulations that state the proper age difference, however society has made certain things acceptable. I believe 5-10 years is the most although the same age is probably the best bet. My Fiance is 8 years older and my parents have an issue with that , but I feel just comfortable with that.

Well it depends on the individual. It needs more perservrance to make a relationship work when you have a substantial age gap between the partners but if you are mature and patient enough then it can and will work. My girlfriend is 8 yeatrs older than me and I have always been madly in love with her. I feel my life will have no meaning if I don't marry her. There have some times when we haven't been able to understand each other but with time and deliberation , we have been able to resolve all our issues.

I frankly don't think it matter if both parties are of legal age. But the rest of the world might see it that way. Good rule of thumb:

Half the older party's age + 7years should be the youngest that the older person should date. For instance a 40yr could get away with a minimum of 27. See how that works? *grin*

Good luck!

First love is blind. I use to be with a guy that was 10 years younger then me. It was nice but in the back of my head I always wondered what it would be like when we got older. We are no longer together and now that I am married to a guy who is my age it feels like more of a fit. It is all up to the individual, If you feel good about it then it is your decision.

there is no maximum age for love look at mike douglas and catherine zeta jones.
it has to do with two people wanting the same things at the same time, have a mutual respect for each other, understanding etc...
