Hmmm, favorite companion bird? I love them all! I've met so many different species that are really cool. The Congo African Grey is a highly intelligent bird and for a while I thought that was my favorite but then I met a Blue and Gold Macaw who is truly a gentle giant. Like people, it depends on the individual bird and not a specific species. I love my Conures; they're little birds with big personalities.
Wild birds? Parrots are wild birds and I'd much rather see them flying free than in my family room. We have a flock of about 30 wild Peach Face Lovebirds in our yard and they've become my favorite wild bird. I'd love to go to Australia and see the wild Cockatoos flying free. However, having grown-up in the Pacific Northwest, I can't over look the Robin as a close second to the parrots.

As a pet, I love the African Grey parrot the most. They can talk (and understand), yet they are independent enough to explore on their own. Most birds must have a constant companion (as their instincts lead them) but Greys can be entertained while their owners are away for short periods of time. Greys should never be compared to a dog or a cat. If you are considering a Grey for a pet, know that they will live a long time and please study-up on their behavior. Unless more people will adapt to their indoor behavior, they could become extinct, which would be a crying shame. Just like dogs and small cats can be pampered as indoor pets, so can some types of birds. I feel the Grey is a perfect example
My favorite wild bird is the hummingbird. They are so small that they simply amaze me to watch outside. I hope that people who feed them understand not to feed them too late in the season that it interferes with their migration.

I seem to be turning into an African Grey person. I have great respect for the species. They have an unbelievable intellect, and a terrific capacity for learning if you know how to train them. They also have quite a sensitive nature...it's as though they can read your feelings. But I've always believed our animals know us far better than we know them. They spend a LOT of time observing us.
My favorite wild bird would be the Loon. They are drop dead gorgeous, have a beautiful haunting and lilting call, and they carry their very young babies on their back in the water.
My favorite wild bird to train was the Hooded Vulture. He was quite responsive and seemed to enjoy working with me.

My favorite pet bird would have to be Bare eyed Cockatoo. these birds are a smaller cockatoo and VERY smart. Plus they don't give off the white powder like most cockatoos.
As far as wild bird mmm good question not sure.

You don't get breeds of birds, just species.
My favourites are any of the Amazon species or Patagonian conures.
Both are lively and talkative and very intelligent. My Patagonians can do several tricks.
My favourite wild bird species is any of the corvids, so crows, magpies, rooks etc.
Again becuase they are highly intelligent and in the case of crows, they pair for life.

My favorite Bird as a Pet/Family member is a duck or goose.
We have 2 hybrid Mallards who are wonderful and sweet and are members of our family.. They were rescues .
They are intelligent, large enough to hug and snug up, and easy to care for.
My favorite Wild Bird.. Hands down is the Bald Eagle... THey are amazing to watch. They are superior parents and spend a great deal of tiem teaching thier young to hunt etc..
They are also wonderful indicators of the local enviroment they are living in.. Healthy Eagles mean healthy enviroment...
Hope that tells you what you needed.
