With most energy pollution is left behind but I'm not sure why it does it. Could somebody explain to me why this is?

Hydrocarbons (Gasoline and coal for example) give off Carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide when burned. These are major pollutants.

At present their is no such thing as non polluting energy. True hydro electricity is much less polluting but the building of the dams, manufacturing of the plant and transmission lines all cause pollution. Generating electricity also tends to produce ozone - good in the upper atmosphere but decidedly bad and smog forming in the lower atmosphere. The diversion of water courses is also thought to have been a major contributor to climate change. In particular to the change in where rainfall occurs.

Most bio fuels will still incur burning, or the use of electricity to produce thus still producing some pollution. Producing bio fuel will require more agricultural land to be given over to their production thus making it highly likely that there will be a huge increase in the need for fertilisers and thus more pollution of a different sort.

Pollution free energy is therefore simply a pipe dream, like perpetual motion it is an unachievable ideal. All we can do is reduce the pollution that is caused. In recognising that however the world is finding the answer. Car engines, aircraft engines, and factory processes are all much more efficient now and will continue to get more efficient.

Using energy, such as electricity, creates pollution because the power plants that produce electricity burn fossil fuels like coal to produce the electricity in the first place. Burning fossil fuels produces pollution. If you use less electricity, the power plants wouldn't have to burn as much fossil fuel, which would lead to less pollution. This is why people say that using less electricity produces less pollution.

not using energy creates pollution..but the way we extract that energy from various resources like heat from coal, wood, nuclear energy
when fuel in cars is used for converting to energy, pollution(CO,CO2) is added to atmosphere when it is burnt ..
on the contrary using other sources of energy like hydro energy or solar energy dont create pollution ! ,as there is no leftover. i think you got the idea of pollution and energy

It is the SOOT theory. If all matter is not burned completely, it gives out soot. Check your fireplace. We need cleaner burning fuels that are presently not being explored.
