You could try downloading a trial of 'Registry Mechanic' which gets rid of all the rubbish in your registry that your system no longer needs

Does a good job on file clean up and registry cleaning.
IF your computer is running slow, you may also want to run the msconfig utility.
Go to Start, then Run and type in: msconfig
Go to the startup tab
You will see a list of all the programs that are loaded when your computer starts up. Uncheck any that you do not have to have. (Usually you can uncheck them all). If you decide you to need one, you can go back and recheck it.
The fewer things running in the background, the fast the PC loads and runs.

Another one worth having is "cleanup" you can get it here http://www.stevengould.org/software/cleanup/ and it's free, just do not tick clear passwords !!! hope it helps Mike.
