There is nothing wrong with it, but you need to be suggesting strategies to the family to help the 8yo move into her own room.

Sometimes children are more comfortable in their parents bed and the parents or grandparents (in this case) find it easier to get a good night sleep if they are not having to calm this child down.

The first strategy they could use would be move her once she is a sleep into her own bed, leading up to putting her to bed in her own room, and reminding her that this is her room and her grandmother needs to get some sleep so the child has to stay in her room.

Another strategy would be to allow her to chose how her room is decorated and let her help to decorate it.

Finally give her lots of praise for sleeping in her room, whether that is for 45minutes or all night.

It probably is just that is is easier for the child and the grandmother, however if you are really worried abuse is happening then call the child protection services in, in this case you need to do that now. They will investigate and take action if required.

She sleeps with her grandmother, and you want to call HRS? how rude! Maybe she is scared to sleep by herself.. Is there a law that says that is wrong? Do you think the grandmother is abusing her? If not, then why call? Do you want to be the hated one in the family and have everyone start treating you like ****? You can't just let people be like they are? If the kid wants to get out of the bed, she will when the time is right. other than her grandmother abusing her making her stay in the bed, there shouldnt be a reason to call the child protective services!

Yes, you are over reacting to this. Maybe this child is very insecure about something and by sleeping with the grandmother she feels safe and protected. If you had a reason to believe there was something else going on then I could see calling CPS but until you have reason to think that dont do anything.

What is unfortunate is it is so easy to drop a dime to CPS for scared or angry people in some cases. Yes, there are cases when CPS intervention saves a child. Sounds like the child is scared of the dark, could have nightmares and needs comfort. I use to sleep with my parents too. How old is Grama? I think you are fussing over nothing. Do you like to stir up trouble especially when there's nothing. Are you bored?

I wouldnt say child protective services needs to be called BUT I would wonder WHY this child is sleeping with any adult. I see the first answerers don't see anything wrong with it...I do!! Is there a space issue? Is there a safety issue? what gives?

Maybe you should look for a reason why she still does, before u go that far. I mean, maybe the child is afraid of the dark or she has nightmares, it happens. I think you should read more into it before doing that. Better yet, mind your business, she not your child or your husbands.

did you never sleep with your parents or grand parents? i slept every weekend with my grandma until i was 16 and then unfortunetly she died. if she was alive today i'd say thank you grandma for the love you gave me and the jokes you told me in bed! PLUS i'd still want to share my bed with her! love you grandma!
