a balanced diet of lots of lean protein, fresh veggies, and fruit, and carbs. variety is a great thing to offer a child so when they grow older they will be willing to try new things. limiting fast food, and junk food, will also help cut out obesity issues, as well as many health issues.

Growing children need high quality protein, complex carbs, a full complement of vitamins and minerals, and high quality fats.
I'm a vegetarian, so I recommend combining grains and legumes for the protein, along with yogurt for protein and calcium.
Lots of green vegetables for vitamins and minerals, and you can stir fry them in olive oil for the high quality fat.
Fruits like apples, bananas, oranges. The fruit is better than fruit juice, which has a ton of sugar and isn't great for the teeth or the metabolism.
For the carbs, use whole grains whenever possible. If you're using a refined grain, like white pasta or rice, combine it with veggies cooked in high quality fat (like olive oil or ghee) so that the sugar content of the refined food doesn't upset your child's glycemic balance. (which would make your child hyperactive, among other things!)
It's great that you start your child with a healthy diet while they're young. Healthy childhood habits will help your child avoid obesity, which is epidemic in the US, and probably a lot of other places, too.
P.S. Stay away from fast foods whenever you can!

A balanced diet. WHO recommends 4 food groups. 1. Staple- Wheat, rice, etc. 2. Protein- Meat , fish, eggs, etc. 3. Fruits and vegetables for vitamins and minerals. 4. Energy- giving foods. Oil, butter, sugar. Milk must also be given.
50-60% calories should be through carbohydrates, 20-30%, fats and 10-20%, proteins.
