Well, you have got to download stuff in D: and E: Drive. 8 Gb is simply not enough for C:. Try CCleaner(www.ccleaner.com) which also cleans unused registry keys. This may free some space. Also, transfer the songs in your My Music to D: or E:. With all these the free space may increase to 1.5 GB. But you should usually have 40% of your C: free for faster operation of your computer.

You have to delete some of the files off it. Disk cleaner only takes off temporary files that Windows uses while running. They are recreated the next time you start Windows.

You will need to take some of your music, pictures, videos, etc. and copy them to either CD or DVD, and then delete them from your hard drive.

You can also free space by uninstalling any programs you can survive without.

Finally, as you only have a 8gb hard drive, and the standard today is about 80gb (10 times as much), you might want to consider investing in a new hard drive. You can install it as a second hard drive and run your programs from the first drive while storing your data on the new drive. You can also consider an external hard drive. As the advance that you can then take the drive with the data to a friends computer and share it with them.

Are your files compressed? I never actually compressed my files, but my old computer just automatically did that. I had a friend who said he didn't like compressing files because it made the computer run slower. I don't really know if it did or not, because I never ran it uncompressed. You might look around in your computer and see if you can compress your files. If you can and you try it I would assume that you could uncompress them if you wanted. I kind of hate giving advice about something I'm not totally sure of, so maybe someone else will answer this question and tell you if they think it's okay to compress your files.
