Try tracing your family tree back as far as you can. My uncle did it some years ago and he was able to prove that we are Blackfoot on my grandfather's side and we always knew that my maternal grandmother was 1/3 Cherokee, 1/3 Irish and 1/3 African American (her mother was 1/2 Irish & 1/2 Cherokee and her father was African American). Unfortunately my uncle passed away 3 months ago and I am unable to find out the steps that he took to prove it but we have paper work stating that we are of Native American descent.

No blood test. Just research. Find out if one of your ancestors had Native blood AND whether they were registered. If one of your grandparents was 100% native, then you should be able to enroll through their census office.
