If everybody dies & either goes to heaven or hell, what was the point of God creating the earth? Thay say a day to God is a thousand years, so why would he spend 6000 years creating the earth if we won't be here long anyway?

seekfind: read carefully to what i wrote. I didn't say that the earth was created 6000 years ago. I said that it TOOK 6000 years for the earth to be made, because a day to God is a thousand years. If i'm wrong with the math, let me know.

Very good question. Causes one to think. Considering such scriptures as Psalm 115:16, Isaiah 45:18 and Ecclesiastes 1:4, the earth isn't going anywhere.

Suppose you had a beautiful apartment complex you had built with your own hands. Incredibly gorgeous complex. You rent it out to tenants. Most of them have no respect for you or the gorgeous home you built. They damage and destroy the homes, maim and kill each other and curse you constantly. Now what do you do? Burn down the complex? No. You evict the tenants.

Now some say earth is a testing ground to determine whether one goes to heaven. But if that were so, then why weren't the angels tested before they got to live in heaven? Moreover, where would Adam and Eve be if they had remained obedient? God only introduced death as a punishment if they disobeyed. So had they remained obedient, they would have remained on earth in a paradise, yes?

The entire Bible teaches that earth is the home God meant mankind to always have. Had Adam and Eve remained faithful they would eventually have been able to eat from the tree of life and so live forever. They lost that opportunity. But by means of the sacrifice of Jesus, we now have that opportunity. To live forever in perfection in a restored paradise on earth.

First all the earth is not created 6,000 years ago. Gen1:1 mentions: 'In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.' The heavens, which includes the visible universe, and the earth are created at the same time. Therefore the earth is as old as the universe. Rev. 21:1 'And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first earth has passed away. Also there was no more sea' There is a new heaven and a new earth after the old earth is destroyed. The earth was created for man to multiply himself and rule it so that God could have a company of people that He can love and enjoy with.

In the millennium we will live on earth as well as on Heaven. Our home as human beings is earth. God created it for us.
Heaven is only a holding place till that special time comes. God is going to make new all things in the future. Even Heaven and not only earth are going to become new again.

People ask, "Why did God make bugs?" But bugs help to
till the soil, pollinate plants, and feed other creatures.
The question should be, "Why did He make humans?" Because
we came along and threw everything out of balance!
God made this world to be a vacation spot for His spirits. To come and enjoy the beauty, and watch the animals play. But our
spirits hung around too long and got trapped by the
spiritual forces that make this material world. Then God made a human body for us to live in. Does that make more sense?

The Earth will be here as long as the Universe allows.
I pose this Question.. What if everyone dies in a massive extinction of humans, humans re-evolve(evolution is proven); who will tell those re-evolved humans about "God, heaven, & hell"??

The earth will be destroyed at the end of our time, but God never intended for the earth to be destroyed. Adam and Eve were the cause of that, because of their impurity in the Garden of Eden, they invited Satan in to destroy their souls. Also God does everything for a reason!!!

Earth and the whole world will be burst (somehow). All the people will be dead and will go to Heaven and Hell. And then the world will be made again and a new life will start. (sorry I couldn't explain better)

He created the earth for our enjoyment, which gives Him pleasure. But He will create a new earth and then live with us.
