I asked a guy I like very much to the cinema, and he agreed to come - he even seemed happy to be asked. However, yesterday we were arranging a time and day to see the movie and he told me he'd asked another friend to join us. What is this about? Either he doesn't consider it a date, or he does, and is sending me a not-very-subtle hint that he's not interested. Why would a guy who seems otherwise normal invite a third person out with him and a girl who did her best to make it clear that she was asking him out, alone, on a date, with her? Why are men who are otherwise blindingly intelligent so stupid when it comes to relationships? And what can I do now?

people can misrepresent themselves no matter where or how you meet them. some can lie rather well without having to go online to misguide you. and the psycho types can be found anywhere also. if you do try online dating and start talking to someone, just make sure that when you decide to meet them, you do so somewhere publicly and arrive in your own vehicle. it would also help to let someone else know where you will be meeting and for how long. maybe let a friend know to expect a call so they can know things are ok, or ask them to call you after so long. just a few suggestions for your safety. and if at any time you dont feel comfortable always remember that you have every right in the world to leave. just make sure you clearly but with some degree of politeness state you are not interested. also dont leave them to misinterpret your feelings by saying maybe you could be friends when really you dont want any more to do with them. i know i'd appreciate someone actually giving me an honest answer like that rather than be left wondering. although not a virgin, i'm in the same boat except i'm a guy who just hasnt met the right woman yet. eventually you'll find who you are looking for. just find a hobby to get involved in and possibly meet others with your same interests. i'm sure there are alot of men out there who would appreciate a woman like you. good luck, i wish you well

We can do some stupid things. Alot of younger guys like to have their buddies with them because they are insecure. He will grow out of this one day but in the meantime, next time you ask him to do something be sure to say"I thought maybe the 2 of us could do something together this weekend...just us.." That should get your point across.

talk to him about it.. tell him that you wanted it to be just you two.. he'll either tell his buddy that he can't come and you'll be on a date or he'll tell you his actual intentions.. which could help you to get out of some heartbreak
