As a hairdresser of 34years I believe they come from lack of moisture, just like a leaf will crack and die when it falls from a tree. It's not from lack of regular trims.keep hair moist and split ends dont appear.( provided your using the correct products when straightening , blowdrying etc.) hope this helps.

Split ends usually result when the ends of an individual hair is old and/or dry; the hair actually starts to split down the middle. For most people, the best treatment is a good conditioner each time you wash your hair, and a regular trim.

It comes from damage hair. If you used to straighter or a blow dryer you can have split ends because of the heat produces in these products. They occur because you over heated your hair and practically burned it. That's why is healhty to cut your hair every 3-5 months to keep it looking shiny, pretty and without the split ends!! Don't wash your hair every day because that drys it and that can cause unhealhty hair and split ends.

dry and damaged hair. Try putting an intensive treatment conditioner into your hair weekly. You should also get a trim to cut off the damaged ends.
