Times change and so our ethics and to a cetain degree, so do our morals. There was a time when doctors would not give a dying patient so much morphine to stay the pain because the patient (who had no chance of living) might become addicted; this was at one time the prescribed protocol in many hospitals, ridiculous as it may sound today.
It's amazing how we can put a supposed criminal to death, we can euthanize animals because it's the humane thing to do... but we cannot let someone die with dignity even though that person has absolutely no chances of living... but we prolong their suffering and agony... and we call ourselves humans, and refer to ourselves as humanity and humane?
As long as euthanasia is not used for economic purposes (example, it's costing so much to keep so-and-so alive...) or for someone's gain (my grandfather or dad or spouse is using up a fortune in medical bills and I want that money to spend on...). I do, to a certain extent, bellieve in euthanisia but only to prevent further inevitable suffering, not for the sake of committing suicide for emotional/psychological reasons or for economic purposes.
Extreme measures must be undertaken to ensure that nothing nefarious is going on, or it would be assisted legalized murder.

Yes...but only if decided clearly by the person being euthanized...
i don't think the relatives or doctors have that right. Also if it is in the will...then so be it.
Also i support doctor assisted suicide, as long as the patients were NOT coerced, tricked, or forced into it. I would want requirements to be fulfilled prior to the suicide, like a full psychoanalysis, multiple doctors opinions, and SPOUSAL CONSENT, and other steps to ensure it is what is truely wanted.

yes
at a particular point in a person's life when it is known that the individual has no hope of living without intense pain and there is nothing known that can cure or comfort the patient to the point where the patient is able to have a life filled with any form of experience besides pain then it is only humane that this person be allowed some help in order to be free from their existence.

definitely NOT!
this topic has been a debate for so long... and this doesn't seem to end!
for me, euthanasia is an act that is unforgivable .Even if you think that you are doing it for the sake of the patient not to suffer anymore. No one still has the right to take someone's life! we are not the one who gave breath to a man then we still dont have the right to take it from him.

Yes. We're allowed to put animals out of their misery but not human beings? Doesn't seem to make sense. I believe there should be a strict set of guild lines, e.g. person is terminal and/or in massive amounts of pain, is sane, etc , but it seems crazy that humans r forced to suffer, while dogs and cats r allowed relief from their terminal pain. Yes. In the cases when medical fraternity can not provide any succor to the pain of the person and the likelihood of his continuinng in problem is for an indefinite period, it should be allowed.

yes only by the persons wishes. other wise it's murder. but if I'm dying painfully and slowly and draining my family's resources I think I'd want out a few weeks/months early. yet i normally say suicides wrong but at a certain point it crosses a line for me.

I think NOT, because people are going to be put to death for convenience, and not because they are suffering greatly. It will snowball into something more horrendous that what Hitler did to the Jewish people.
