The same reasons older mothers don't keep their appointments. They might have forgotten, can't be bothered, don't see the point in going, not feel well enough, might fancy going to the pub instead...

Possibly one theory is that a large percentage of under 18 year old mothers come from socio-economically deprived backgrounds with low incomes and have minimum education. Combined with juggling the priorities of their new lifestyle as a young mother, they possibly either lack the maturity to take on the responsibility of keeping their clinic appointments or simply forget to keep them.

The fact that you are asking suggests that you work in some capacity in the health services. The fact that despite being able to preveiw your'e print on answers you have still failed to use any kind of normal or correct syntax or grammar suggests that you are not the worlds smartest person. The fact that the nature of the question is prejudicial and inflammatory suggests that you are in fact one of the very reasons why young mums fail to attend and if I were your manager youd be out of a job.

Young mothers may not be ready for the huge responsibility of raising a child. They may be trying to go to school, work, and
take care of a baby. It may be that they don't have transportation to and from the clinic or that the time conflicts with school or work. Most young mothers get no help from the baby's father and have to rely on family and friends.

why do you lump all people into one group. There are mothers out there under 18 who do a brilliant job and there are some who like those over18 who simply forget appointments due to the fact they have just had a baby, are sleep deprived and are exhausted. Find some tolerance of others

I would be interested to know your source on this.

We all make mistakes. I forgot to take my baby to the clinic the other month for his jabs. It was on the calender but come lunch time I had forgotten until the evening. I hate wasting appointments I beleive it is a waste for someone else that needs it, but iot happens, we all do it occaisionally and I think its unfair to blame young mums who are already up against it.

Probably the following:
1. Transportation
2. Conflicts with school or work. Its hard to schedule these.
3. There's no one to go with them.
4. Doctors are judgemental about unplanned pregnancies. I saw several doctors and they all were that way, and I wasn't even a teen.
