When I tried to rip my CDs to my system this message came up, I clicked web help but is was no help!! Can any one help me please.. Rich..:- "Windows Media Player cannot play, sync, or burn the protected file because a problem occurred with the Windows Media Digital Rights Management (DRM) system. You might need to connect to the Internet to update your DRM components. For additional assistance, click Web Help."

try a different CD, because some CDs are protected and cannot be ripped. if that CD works then the other CD is protected.

The reason you're getting that message is because it's still classed as 'illegal'. Microsoft assumes that you're copying music in order to distribute it, which is classed as copyright theft. What happens is that music companies apply a form of protection to their CDs called Digital Rights Management (DRM). Others have already mentioned ways you can get around this, though there are many programs that will do it for you.

Hmm not heard that one before. I'm using WMP11 as well and when i use it it's just like it always has been, simply clicking rip and then rip cd, not seen the message about DRM before and i've ripped alot of CD's using version 11...try getting in touch with Microsoft

if you downloaded media 10 first there shouldnt be a problem, for some reason it works better loading ontop of the earlier version, the settings are ther in front of you, cant tell you off hand i have had to start again, also if you cant get the dvd to work theres is a good little program called vlc media, does the same job, not a bad player with good visuals, dosnt conflict with windows players straight forward, can get it from the windows advisor!

Insert the CD and then click the Rip button and this should work. I think that when I installed this, I had to click it like twice.

Use Winamp.
