Don't lie to your mother-in-law. Make it yourself. She'll be impressed and you'll feel good about yourself. This one is easy and it's been my families favorite since I was a child and I am 50. It's called Chocolate Upside Down Cake. You make the batter, put it in the pan, pour the chocolate liquid on top of the batter and bake it. While it bakes, it makes it's own hot fudge sauce under the cake! It's delicious served cold or warm but especially warm with vanilla ice cream or whip cream.
Chocolate Upside Down Cake
1 c flour
1/4 c sugar
3 tbl unsweetened baking cocoa
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 c milk
1/4 c melted butter
1 tsp vanilla
Mix all by hand till well blended. Pour into greased or pammed 8 or 9" sqare pan. Batter will be abit thick. Put the following ingredients in a small sauce pan:
1/2 c white sugar
1/2 c firm packed light brown sugar
1/4 c baking cocoa
1+1/2c boiling water
Bring all to a boil stirring. Pour hot liquid gently over the batter in pan. Bake 350 for 45 mins.
She'll be impressed and you'll all love it!

I agree with the person above. Do you have a Wegmans around? They have a wonderful bakery.
Even if you have the best recipe for something, doesn't always mean it's going to come out tasting or looking great. Small details matter alot in cooking.
Good luck!

Get one of the cake mixes that has the pudding in it - that will make it extra moist. And make sure you frost it!
