hey anthony.
yes it will not count against your luggage allowance. though with southwest I have learned that you are able to check it at the gate. Which means that you can carry it throughout the airport adn then before boarding onto the plane you check it there and it is ready for you once you get off. This does not count against you. You are also able to do this with a stroller instead.

I would also advise you to wrap it in a plastic bag. It is dirty in the baggage compartments, what with baggage from all over the world going through. I am appalled at how many times people send their babystrollers with teething things attached down to the luggage compartment.

Yes...but your child is also authorized to check two bags... so it shouldn't matter...you have your two bags, the kid has one bag and the car seat...you're good to go!

yes. everything will. and some companies are more tolerant than then the others. make sure you check in upto 20kgs.
