It is a simple operation in which opaque lens is removed. Presently another lens is implanted so that u donot need thick lenses for correcting ur vision. Effort is made to have zero power for distant vision.

My father had both eyes done 6 months apart, his vision improved greatly. he was 86 at the time and now is 92.

Yeah have them removed.
