It's so you will keep buying more never coming up even thus you spend more money and the company's who make the hot dog or the bun make more money.

You´ve been watching the film, Father of the Bride, havent u! The part were Steve Martin loses it after spending a fortune on his daughters wedding and screams about 8 hotdogs and only 6 hotdog buns so he has to buy 12 hotdog buns when he only needs 8. Good film, oldy but good
As he says its a conspiracy between the hotdog company and the hotdog bun company!

because the buns are bigger than the sausages and u chop the extra 2 down to completely fill the bun well i do anyway

I am sure it is a marketing ploy by the people who make the rolls, they know there a eight hot dogs, so you will have to buy two pack's, more cash for them, simple marketing strategy!!!!
