this has happened once before, i couldnt sleep and i linked it to the fact that i ahd done a very strenous workout earlier that day, more strenous than normal. Well its happening again right now and i hate it. I also attribute it to the fact that yesterday i took some caffeine pills to study for a test, so the combo isnt going great for me. My heart is racing and my chest and arms feel sore. What can i do to make this go away?

I mean like right now make it go away, right this seecond. not in the future.

submerge yourself in a bath. The water pressure will slow your blood flow.
Concentrate on breathing slowly and deeply, in through your nose, out through your mouth.

Well part of it is that you are worried about it.
Which in turn will make it worse. It sounds like it could be a panic or anxiety attack. Try to just focus on your breathing. just listen to your breathing for as long as you can without letting your mind wander. Your chest and arms feel sore because you are tensing up your body. Make a conscience effort to relax your muscles and body. The caffeine I'm sure didn't help. Most anxiety attacks last about 20 minutes to a half hour. try to calm your self down.
If you find you cant focus and relax. Make a brownie mix. Or do something that requires your focus to be on something other than your body.
If it continues or gets worse as far a crushing or sever pain in your chest go to the ER. But to me it sounds like you've freaked yourself out.
I speak from my own experience.
You will be OK.

There's not much you can do I believe to lessen the effects of caffeine, but seeing how it's been a while since you took them, I suspect it's a combination of things. Try to lie down, calm down, distract your attention, ebcause focusing on it will amke you feel stressed and anxious most likely, which will only increase your heartbeat. Try to listen to some calming music while lying down in the dark.

Try to slow your breathing. Very slow breaths in, hold for a second, very slow out. This can slow the heart rate.
I've had that feeling too---if you don't have a tranquilizer on hand (Valium, Xanax) then slow breathing is the best option.
Drink water, too, to help flush the caffiene out.

massaging your vagal nerve may help the easiest way to do this would be to press your thumbs into the bone over your eyes just inside your eye socket its hard to describe but if you do it right it should work just imagine having a brain freeze and press from the bridge of your nose and run your thumb along the bottom of your eyelids. hope this works otherwise try putting your thumb on your mouth and taking a deep breath before closing your mouth and blowing as hard as you can on your thumb (as if your trying to spit it out) sounds silly but try it.

Caffeine pills are the reason why your heart rate is fast. But how fast? I would suggest to sit still and breathe really deeply and very slowly. ( 5sec to breathe in and 5sec to breathe out). Hope this helps.

relax, maybe get a massage, sit in a chair, head down, and breate in and out very slowly, about 5-8 times.

Do something relaxing. If you have a fish tank, watching fish is supposed to calm you.

Try pressure on carotid sinus on side of neck.
