Fibromyalgia is a condition that causes chronic muscle and soft tissue pain and tenderness on both sides of the body, above and below the waist. Fibromyalgia does not damage the body, destroy the joints or cause any internal organ problems, but the pain may be severe enough to interfere with work and other activities. Regular exercise, such as walking, biking, or swimming, is the cornerstone of treatment for fibromyalgia. Talking to a spouse or a good friend is a valuable way to reduce tension and stress.

I have had fibromayalgia for 10 years and I have rheumatoid, osteo, and general arthritis. There is a site that you can go to online to find out written information but I can certainly tell you about the physical symptoms! Every muscle and joint in my body is effected. The worst is in both of my ankles. I have chronic tendinitis in my right arm and left foot and the function is limited at times. I was told to exercise and it would get better and frankly that was a lie. There is no cure for this just treatment and sometimes it can be worse than the cure. I stopped taking medicines when my liver check came back with problems. Your girlfriend may want to look into filing for SSI if she is at the point to where she cannot work full time. She might also have muscle weakness in her and arms. But my body is pretty far gone with it so I can't say for sure. She may also suffer from fatigue. Tell her that I said I am sorry that she has to go through this and to stay positive and outgoing and make sure she keeps her weight in her appropriate range because it will help with the joint pain.
