My family and I moved into a new apartment about two weeks ago and I have been sick ever since. I know the people who lived here before me had pets, because I can see the pet hair everywhere. The carpets were supposed to be cleaned before we moved it, but when I first vacuumed the carpets it's was awful what I picked up. I put all the pet hair and dust in a bag and showed it to the management. They were sorry and called the company back out the next day to re-clean. I think it's more than just the carpets though. I don’t want to move but is there anyway to get rid of the dust and pet hair, or should we just try to move? We have a few other issues with the management that makes us want to move, but I don’t think I have the energy to move again. Should I try to make the Management fix the problem, or can I make them pay for my doctor bills and cost of the medicine I have to take now? I just need some advice on what other people would do. Thank you.

Ohhhhh been there done that! Have the carpet shampooed with anti allergen shampoo. That is about all you can do about it, unles they are willing to replace the carpet (which they won't be) unless you do move. They will not pay for your allergy meds/treatments, and they will not let you break the lease without paying.

Good luck!

that's pretty bad, you could try purifying the air. Maybe you could rent an air purifier and see if that helps. So did the carpets actually get shampooed? They shoulud have brought one of those machines that gets the carpets a little moist because of the cleaning. Has everything in the aparment been scrubbed down?
Do you have a carbon monoxide monitor? you should also monitor this.....if all else fails, you may have to move. sorry and good luck.

Maybe it is the dirt alover the apartment, sometimes a new apartment could be a little bit dusty. What you gonna do is........... clean your apartment very well so you will be happy and you are free fromm the dirt. if you don't what to clean so you can hire a maid. Always clean your pet too.
