Soft drinks usually contain caffeine which dehydrates. They also have a lot of sugar which does not quench the thirst but leaves one gasping for more liquid.
Gatorade or some such thing works best IMHO. Or a good workout and a ton of H20 will help me shake it off.

The sugar in the soft drink dehydrates you which makes the hang over worse...good old water is the best solution.

You are dehydrated after tying one on. Drink gatorade very slowly at first. If you drink anything too quickly, even water, you are likely to bring it back up. Pedialite is a little more expensive, doesn't taste as good but rehydrates and flushes toxins very well.

A tip: before i get a hangover, i usually have a cup of black coffee and lots of water before i zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. If i didn't get to the point of drinking the coffee, orange juice helps so far the next morning. Water is a must my dear.

Bloody mary is the best ive ever tryed for hang overs, since the vitamin C in the tomato juice helps revitalize you, alcohol picks you back up, and the little bit of tabasco coz it is spicy slightly speeds up your metabolism...so ive been told, but i felt great after drinking one.

It dehydrates you. So does alcohol, but drinking more alcohol would fix your hangover so long as you drank some water as well. A better idea is to take asperin before you go to sleep--NOT tylenol. Trust me, I learned all about this in organic chemistry.

ya, i always crave soft drinks when i'm hung over, but i did read they're not good for hydration. here in korea they swear by having soup and a little alcohol to cure a hangover.
