I know people that use so much profanity that they exclude using substantial, or even coherent, language altogether. Do you think there should be a limit to using expletives? Is it "cool"? Is it okay for some people to do it? Where was the most inappropriate place in which you heard someone curse?

I think we have a rich language and we should be using more words instead of the usual ones. I cannot stand people who curse all the time. Usually they talk rubbish and I cannot stand pointless conversations either. Am I snob? Maybe, but I think that cursing in front of other people can disturb or offend them.

On the other hand, cursing is communicating, too. I believe that in extreme situations you need to curse and say words you wouldn't use otherwise. Those bad words exist and some times you may need to use need and that's fine (as long as no children are in sight). I'd said its used is justified in these cases.

Why do people curse with no reason? I don't know. They might think it's cool, or maybe it's part of their personality,... I just think it's sad.

I think people who can't spell 'education' shouldn’t really comment on the ignorance of others!!

Apart from that, I agree that cursing is a form of laziness; it's a lot easier to use expletives than to find appropriate descriptive words. Since becoming a step-mom I've had to watch my language more around the kids and have found that it has actually improved my vocabulary!

I think most people who curse excessively do have a limited vocabulary but I honestly wish people would just think about who is around to hear it. My ex and his buddies would just cuss up a storm working around in my garage and my neighbors young (7 & 3) kids were right on the other side of the fence. I tried to talk to him about in once and just got a blank stare. Of course his 2 year old granddaughter called me a b***h the first time she met me so that tells you what I was up against. They though it was funny that she talked that way but it was all she heard so of course she picked it up.

I think its an insult to their intelligence. I also tell them that. All our friends know not to cuss around us. I was up in Ohio this week-end at a drive thru (This is a place where you drive thru a store and you don't get out of the car. We don't have them in TN) Anyway when we pulled up the person that was working was talking to her other co-worker and she said the F word. Well my change was a penny and told her to keep it because that was about what her mouth was worth and I drove off.

They are just !@#$%^&* ignorant! The most inappropriate place? On a golf outing with a Catholic Archbishop (the person swearing thought his name was "Archie", until he saw him on the news that night). And during a religious service when a guy was reliving his life of sin (& boy, was that ever colorful !)

My first impression of someone whose every other word is a curse word is not a good one. I don't think it is 'cool' at all, although I know a lot of people see it that way, it's just unnecessary and offensive to a lot of people.

I think they're ignorant.

I've heard this quote once about profanity that I like:

"Cursing is a way an ignorant mind tries to express itself". I agree.

i think that people who like to curse, just lack of vocabulary... if they can't express what they feel or think, boom! they curse

most inappropriate place? hmm... there's none. as long as people hear someone cursing, it creates this negative vibe in the atmosphere so i say none.

well cursing has become the "norm" with a lot of people because its "taboo" to do. its one of those things people look down upon but it really doesn't hurt anyone so people do it to be somewhat rebellious. the most inappriate place ive heard cursing was in a church, someone hit their toe on a chair and screamed "F___"

I hate cursing..some people just don't know when to stop..it seems every other word is F this, F that... and i'll stand by my morals and if i hear them i'll tell them i find it offensive, and i'm not a snob.
