The soul is immortal, the body is not. The body lasts only one lifetime, however the mind which is its companion superimposes itself onto the soul and makes the soul believe that it is mortal. It makes the human being identify itself to be a body, finite and limited and as one that will perish eventually.
The soul moves from one body to another changeless as it was. The mind too moves with the soul, however the mind changes. The desires it had in one lifetime transform itself into a different set of desires, beliefs, identitries etc.
The intellect which is a part of the mind also moves along with the changless soul and the changeful mind. The intellect is a guiding star to the soul and is a part of the soul indeed.
Man's journey through various bodies and lifeforms continue, unless and until he begins to activate his intellect and achieve superiority over his changeful mind such that it cannot cast delusions over hos true identity,.
Once this is accomplished, Man achieves realization and becomes Self-Realized. He realizes that all though he went through several lifetimes in various bodies, He - the soul, was the same and changeless in all these bodies.
When the bodies changed, so did the false ego represented by the mind and its superimpositions until he recognized the power of His intellect to lead him back to His true self.
The Self is Love, Live in Love and that Love is supreme and unconditional shining forth its briliance and radiance and warmth like the sun shines its rays on all.

The soul can reincarnate, but i would think we all have sufficient experience to conclude that noone can live in one body for all eternity. But you can prolong your life by saving your breath. Breathing once a month or every twelve years. I know it sounds fantastic, but it is possible through yoga. Each life has a specified number of breaths, so if you sport a lot or have exesive sex you'll limit your life period. As soon as your specified number of breaths are finished, you'll die one way or another. If you still have breaths left you'll continue living even if you get a hearthattack. It isn't easy to die.

reincarnation is not biblical and the word immortal and soul are nowhere in the bible... soul means a living being in the hebrew text... God made ppl mortal for a reason....but that part of you that is the "soul" that is the essence of who you are --( i believe ) returns to God when we die

Reincarnation is a truth..and it does not become untruth if a "Book" does not believe in it.
As per Hindu belief, soul starts its journey in lower forms and after tasting 8.4 million different species, becomes Human
Human soul too has to learn innumerable lessons to reach divinity, and all these lessons of pain, joys, riches, poverty, etc cant be learnt in one life.
After death one goes to Heaven or Hell as per one's Karma and then takes another birth to learn new lessons
This chain of Karma and births continue till one reaches enlightenment...or becomes one with God
We all have taken many births earlier...and wil continue taking more births..till we finish our lessons and learn that we are the Truth

Yes it is possible to live forever. It is all chosen by god, if he has further use for you after your expected lifetime then you will not die until he is done with you nor will you appear any older then the age you choose to stop aging at.
