You get certain tax and other benefits like making medical decisions for a person if they are in a coma and that sort of thing. I think it used to have something to do with love a long long time ago.

What was the need for solid food when , as a child, you were happy and healthy with just milk? Why didn`t you stay on milk? Any reason? Body ( physical) needs?

What was the need for any toys when you were a baby? Why did you start to look for toys as you grew up? Was that a mental need?

Your physical and mental need takes you to relationship that includes a male /female relationship. It is in this the society has drawn up certain Code of Coduct, called marriage. This is nothing but a set of DOs and DONT`s. If you want to follow these codes of Conduct you need marriage. Or else you don`t need at all.

The Codes of conduct , primarily, include Love, trust, Respect and Intimacy.

Marriage(In Indian CULTURE) makes people take their own responsibility in a committed environment named FAMILY. To lead a good life through Great support life long we need to get married. No others can be too close as that of a life partner. They are the one to whom we can frankly communicate from A to Z in our life(only if we are true to them. I'm not talking about rest of the people)

i wish more indian youngsters would ask themselves the same question.i believe marriage should not be a compulsion.rather it should be just one option available to all ppl of all ages. only if two ppl have complementary views, attitudes and feel they ll be happier if they live together , should this very special option be exercised. hell with what family and society preach. marriage is a personal matter.

We i.e man cannot live lonely. He needs someone wid him always to help & support him always. This need of man can be fulfilled by a life partner. And if both the partners love each other truely then off course they should get married. This is only the reason why one should marry.
