Touchy issue, but he is a danger to society, no matter how old they are. I am sad tough that kids grow up to be like that..... I believe the parents failed at the first place. Youngsters see most of their actions and reactions at home or they have no guidance and support and see everything they know on TV or the Internet. That can be bad if they choose to watch the wrong material. As we all know its freely available with little or no censorship.....Its a chain reaction of home front and society failing on a young man, now he is marked for life, never mind the mental damage that's been done....

Mental hospitals are for people with mental disorders. Prisons are for people who are bad. The boy involved in this case was not mentally disordered, he was bad. He planned the murder. He lured his victim using carefully prepared false documentation. He attempted to cover his tracks. These are not the actions of somebody who didn't know what he was doing.
I agree with you; I think it very likely that he will still be a danger when he is released. The answer to that is not to release him.

The boy in question will actually be eligible for parole in 12 years. By which time he will still be in his 20's! Which is disgusting!
The two boys who killed Jamie Bulger are now roaming free, ones just had a child himself. They were given new identities, and I'm sure are laughing out loud for the pathetic sentance they were given.
F*ck prison and mental hospitals, if someone kills someone intentionally, age irrelevant, they should be hung!

well depending on the person. the child should be screened before any punishment is handed down. the poor child could have a personality disorder in whish, if it is an extreme enough to cause him to kill, then yes the child should be put away for life. thers no cure for a personality disorder. on the other hand the child could be just extremely depressed or suffering from another mental illness, in which case mental hospital should be the place to put him.

I think the poor kid should be put in the mental hospital. Around the age of 14, everyone is depressed so he probably needed some help.

We need to put his into perspective, the Boy who was convicted of the murder killed an eleven year old boy because the young boy would not perform sexual acts for the fourteen year old.
The fourteen year old was obsessed with the youngster and lured him to his house with one purpose in mind and that was to have sex or kill him.
This was planned and premeditated and the boy needs to be locked up for a very very long time and undergo lengthy therapy.
Had the death penalty been there he should have been hung.

who says he needs medical help?! for crying out loud the boy was FOURTEEN, not FOUR! yes, it IS right! And mostly, they do not grow out of it or whatever the hell the bull is out there! One murderer killed people when he was a minor, got his record cleared when he was 18, and while he was in court to get it cleared, he had a body in the trunk of his car. yeah, so much for rehab or whatever

Rehabilitation is the right remedy for a minor for committing a crime and it constitutes as punishment at the same time as provided for in the Penal Law.
