Impression-you want to remember something, get a clear impression and total attention of the things, objects or persons you want to remember or discuss. There's a sub-conscious mind in yourself who records and memorizes all the events that happened in your life. Let us call this, the "little man" or the sub- conscious mind who has the knowledge of your past. When you want to remember something, make it a point to ask the" little man" to give you the answer of your question. Then give him a few seconds or few minutes. Wait, then in a spur of the moment "LM" will knock your head and give you the answer. You need to practice this always to enhance your memory.

I think reading habit, and memorising in a 'gist' what you have read will enhance your memory. Also try the following tricks:
Turn the textual page by 180 degrees, and when the words are overturned try to read the text.
Develop the habit of reading the letters of the words the words backwards i.e. right to left, and identify what you have read.
Run after the words in within no time, i.e. very fast, and try to recollect what you have read.
Practice YOGA from an expert, not from fake ones.

I used to know loads of tricks to enhance memory, but I can't remember them anymore! (boom, boom)
Seriously though, the brain is just like any other muscle in your body. If you want it to work more efficiently, you need to exercise it. If you make a point of using your brain, trying to work out difficult problems, really 'thinking' then your retention for details will improve.
