Who cares whats the guest think its YOUR wedding and YOU are paying for everything. If they dpnt like it they can just leave. Congrats and have fun on your honeymoon.

If you are having that much trouble with space, you should consider another space which will more adequately hold your guests. Remember that even though this is your big day, your friends and family are taking time out of their week to celebrate with you. A buffet dinner is a great idea, because it cuts costs a little, but everyone needs a place to sit. If cost is that much of an issue, then you should do an extended cocktail hour (2-3 hours) without dinner and serve passed options and have stations...then you won't have to have seating for your guests, just tall bar tables (the round ones) for guests to put their plates down on.

I think guests will mind, and as unfortunate as this is to say your gift from them may reflect that. It is no secret that many guests write the gift check at the wedding. they want to gage how much you may have spent so they can give accordingly, and this may play a role in the gift you get. Not only that you want to make your guests as comfortable as possible. Yes it is your wedding, but you need to be condiserate of the people your asking to come. To me it is just a basic thing to have seats at a wedding. Maybe consider having less guests which will save you money and then maybe there will be enough seats for everyone.

Bring in the two long tables. Instead of a buffett, have "food stations". It's kind of like a buffett, but the different types of food are in different places around the room. This set up encourages mingling and getting up a lot, so not everyone will be sitting down at the same time. The two long tables might be enough. And then put extra chairs around the room so that if everyone does happen to want to sit at the same time, they have a place to.

There's nothing wrong with this. I would try and place as many chairs around the room as possible. The two tables that you are going to have should be for the older quests. It's not easy holding onto plate and having to cut meats or having something that is messy-so please watch the menu.

Have you thought about having different kinds of sandwichs, cheese trays, and vegetables trays? They are not only easy to eat, but the expensive is not nearly what it would be for a heavy meal. Less messy too. My daughter wanted to do this, but I insisted on chairs, why I did this because they wanted bbq. I couldn't ask people to try and eat dripping sauce down the front of their dress clothes. So, we ended up with tables, some of quests did sit away from the tables though. So, I think you are pretty fine with your idea.

Have a beautiful wedding day!

God bless us all..........

I think I'd try to narrow the buffet a bit then. Nothing that has to be cut with a knife and fork, something that can be easily eaten with one hand while they hold their plates with the other, finger foods and desserts are best for this. I had the same problem at my wedding, we put out the tables we could, and lined the walls with chairs only, so at least they could sit.

Can you put a tent outside with some tables and chairs? It seems like it would be weird to not have a table to sit at during a wedding... it would be more like a bbq... but, It's your day, and sometimes do what you gotta do.... LOL, who cares if the guests don't like it... they'll talk about it for years ; )

yea they will mind, they will have to be juggleing food, drink napkins, forks, etc...they need somewhere to set all the stuff down! You don't even have to do assigned seating, im not, I'm just having lots of tables! The chairs will help, yes, but if there is anyway possible to squeeze another table or 2 in I would!

Well, it's really odd not to have tables to sit down to eat at - especially hard for the kids and the older people. But as long as there are chairs....

Yes they will mind, how can you not have tables at a buffet dinner. Serve appetizers instead and table wont be needed as guests mingle.

Generally our south Indian elders hate buffet to the core, saying that it is like begging for food. I have seen people elders in south India going away saying that they are not beggars and have not come here to stand in Q and collect food. The wedding party people who invited the guests has to call invitees to the food and serve on banana leaf. That is respect. so parallel process is going on.But now buffet trend is getting in slowly, it will take long time for osmosis.
