I know a young person, 5 years old, who told me that God is in the sky with Jesus and that God heals people. I asked "who else heals people" and the young person told me "I told you God heals people. God will heal you if you have an owwie". I asked the young person if there are other ways to heal and the response was "I dunno".

It seems a bit more practical to teach children to call 911 or to get an adult when something bad happens or at least to teach them BOTH if God simply must be included, not to JUST teach them that God will heal without including a real-world lesson.

Thoughts?

I feel sorry for the child. There are MANY cases in medical history where patients have refused treatment by a doctor claiming that God would heal them, only to then die of an ailment that could have been treated. It makes me feel sad for our world

Hello!! :o) I've never heard of ANY man - doctor of otherwise - who could HEAL anyone. Doctors don't heal. If I put a band-aid on your wound - am I healing your wound?! Of course not. IF a doctor realigns the broken bones in your leg - is he healing those broken bones? Of course not. And aren't you just assuming that the child is not being taught about the importance of doctors? The child is 5 years old now. I'm sure they have already seen a doctor - a few times. That said... a child should be taught that God heals - and that doctors can HELP make that happen. Craig!! :o)

The parents could have told the child that indeed God heals illness through the people tasked by Him here on earth to heal sick people - the doctors. Merely telling the child that God heals is misleading and will probably do more harm to him/her than good.

Weird. I agree, learning about 911 in an EMERGENCY is always important for a child to know. I also think teaching them that diet and exercise will help their bodies heal, as will time, in most cases.

Or, geeze ... I always thought smooches healed my owwies.

You must teach children to have faith in the Lord, and that the Lord made it possible for the doctors to heal them. Teach them that through God, everything is possible and happens. Most people don't teach their children that JUST God heals them...they do it as i have mentioned above. Unless they are Holiness...

as quickly as they are able to appreciate the least confusing truths. Proverbs 22:6 prepare up a toddler interior the way he could desire to bypass, And whilst he's previous he won't leave from it. Deuteronomy 6:4 "pay attention, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! 5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your capability. 6 "And those words which I command you on the instant would be on your heart. 7 You shall prepare them diligently to your toddlers, and shall communicate of them once you take a seat at your abode of dwelling, once you walk by utilising the way, once you lie down, and once you upward thrust up.

You have a point. They need to know that doctors heal and teachers teach and builders build, etc. But they also need to know that everything happens according to the will of Allah. It is both pieces of information they need to know.

Salam.

Irresponsable parents. God is not a miracle working machine. Ignorance is what should be avoided, especially in those who choose to start a family.

WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO DESTROY THE KIDS FAITH?
WHEN MY GRANDCHILDREN GET A BOO-BOO I PRAY OVER THEM.(THEY LOVE IT)THEN I KISS IT.
MY GRANDCHILDREN GO TO THE DOCTOR.WHEN THEY ARE SICK.BUT THE DOCTOR DOES NOT HEAL THEM.HE MEDICATES THEM,THERE IS A DIFFERENCE.
THEY ARE CALLED GENERAL PRACTITIONERS FOR A REASON.THEY ARE PRACTICING ON YOU.THEY ARE NOT HEALING YOU.
