For deepavali Lighting of dias (Deeps) are not only the ritual the imporatant prayer for light on the day of Trayodasi. On the day of Trayodashi Deeps are lit by every one in the family and flowated in water, in the evening mostly in the ponds. It is a day for gaining the blessings and good wises of one's ancestors. One seeks the help of the ancestors for safeguarding one's interests and one's assets.
On the day of Dhantrayodashi a special ritual is accomplished which is called Deepdaan. In it lamps are lit for every individual in the family and ancestors and they are floated in a river or pond. This day by floating the lamps it is believed the ancestors will bless all their children for their well being.

Dhantryodashi is also the birthday of God Dhanvantri. By doing the deepdaan it is believed we will also receive the blessing of god Dhanvantri (Celetial Doctor) and we all will be well without any disease. Dhanvantri appeared from the ocean at the time of its churning and he had a pot of deine medicine in his hands.

Deepdaan (Lamp offering) is being celebrated in the temple Since the first day of Kartik month and will be continued during the entire month. Devotees offer Lamp to Lord Damodara with great devotion and affection daily in the evening.


In this holy month people of different section of society come daily to temple without break and offer lamp to Their Lordship. Today deepdaan was sponsored by HG Rakshanath das.
