Are there any common ingredients in certain perfumes/lotions/shampoos, etc that people are allergic to? I don't have any allergies that I know of, but every so often i will use a product that makes my eyes water and itch, and I'll sneeze like crazy! The ones I have identified for sure are herbal essences moisture balancing shampoos, curve for women, and cotton blossom bath and body works lotion. No common ingredients between them I've found. Any ideas? Just curious..

Not all of the ingredients in products are listed on the labels.
It could be a chemical allergy if the only time you have a problem is when using those products and you do not have seasonal allergies.
Just about the only way to get a proper diagnosis on a chemical allergy is a test that a dermotologist does. (I went through this and it sounds worse than it is) In this test, they will take several 'buttons' coated with chemicals and tape them along your back (really, it sounds MUCH worse than it is LOL) and leave them there for 72hours, unless they get a reaction much sooner.
I had a chemical allergy, and for the minor discomfort of having tape on my back it was worth it to FINALLY find out what it was and be able to avoid it.

GOOD LUCK!

Its not only common allergens in perfumes/shampoos/lotions but cancer causing substance too. Check this out in the label, and the one probably make you eyes water and red must be SLS or Sodium Laurel Sulphate or its brother Sodium Laureth Sulphate. SLS is a mutagen. It is capable of changing the information in genetic material found in cells. SLS have been use in studies to induce mutations in bacteria.
SLS enters and mantains residual levels in the heart, liver, lungs and brain from skin contact.
SLS can damage the immune system; cause seperation of skin layers and cause inflamation to the skin.(Jounal of the American Collaege of Toxicology; vol 2, no 7, 1983)
Other include:
Propylene Glycol: is used in anti freeze, brake hydraulic fluid , de-icer, paints and coatings and lots more
Guilty for when contact with skin will cause dermatitis, kidney damage and liver abnormalities; can inhibit skin cell growth in human tests an can damage cell membranes causing rashes, dry skin and surfage damage.
There are many more if I want to show U,I'm just worry that you might be afraid to take shower anymore. Just kidding, be educated enough on what product which is safe to use. You can refer to Safe Shoppers Bible ( now its time for you to read bible) by Prof Samuel Eipstein.
Read the Labels Dear.

I went bald from using regular store bought shampoo and soap. After I started using a brand called Jason, which contains mostly natural organic ingredients my hair grew back! I don't know for sure if it was an allerigy to the chemicals in the shampoo, or just the chemicals ( such as SLS) in general. Its to my understanding that 20 years ago shampoos where much more natural or organic than they are today.

If this occurs... you most likely can not tolerate these. I am highly alergic to perfumes, dust, mildew, oak trees, mold, and alot of foods. If you have any doubts...avoid them. Most people do not realize that alergies can make you have memory lose, fatique, mood swings, chemical imbalance, and lots of other disorders. It's not worth the chance.
