Haha, I always feel dopey after a hot meal. In fact, at work yesterday I had a huge helping of cottage pie and 30mins after finishing it, embarressingly, I fell asleep at my desk!!
I saw on a programme a few years ago that if you go for a walk after dinner, to 'blow away the cobwebs' (as my Mum says!) this actually b*uggers up your digestion and bloods taken away from your stomach and to your legs etc.
Soooo, open a window and get the breeze in, or play a game and get your brain active! Failing that.....see you in the Land of Nod lol! Bxx

Have you had a physical lately?
I don't mean to be rude, but, there are medical conditions that can lead to this type of reaction.
Other than that, try eating smaller portions on Sunday's and don't sit down after eating. If you get up and take a walk, you will convert those added sugars into energy?
Good Luck.

I fall asleep after eating all the time, it feels so damn good; but it's a good way to gain some extra pounds.
Your body uses a lot of enegry to break down the food you eat. This is why if you eat a large meal filled with fat you will find yourself very tired afterwards.

i fall asleep after eating a big meal - not just a snack but definately after sunday or christmas lunch!! i reckon it is because your body needs all the energy to digest your meal - sort out all the proteins, carbs etc send them to all the places where they are needed & whilst it is doing this it can't be doing something else at the same time. it comes down to you can't do two jobs at once!!

Christmas day syndrome!
I only get that about once a year at Christmas. I gorge myself and eat loads and I feel full and find the need to have a wee nap to recover. I would say it is pretty normal to happen occasionally, but not after every meal.

Yes, ususally , especially, in the afternoon, if it hot or warm. Also becos the circulation(of Blood) goes from the brain to the stomach to aid in the digestion of food , which has just been eaten.

Well it happens to me sometimes too even now.
I used think i strain myself too much in the morning thats why this happens. But a came upon a report saying this happens to most people because they had a heavy lunch and the body uses so much energy digesting the food that it leaves you tired usually after 30mins/ 1hr after your lunch break.
Well it seems logical so i kinda accecpted the fact.

falling asleep after eating is how we conserve energy.it is how we are made. back in the day, caveman day, when hunting and eating was not so abundant, they slept after eating, the body shuts down to conserve energy to help store fat. you will probably find that it happens more often in the colder weather than in the warmer weather.

I do sometimes, especially after Thanksgiving...but that is the worst time to fall asleep!
The food in your tummy just sits there and turns into fat quicker!
