Good question!
I'm a Kiwi, & therefore from a British colony.
I used to be a Royalist when I was younger & more romantic..now I don't see any value in it.
My country broke old peace treaties & made itself a nuclear-free-zone, & has been penalised for it..by the Yanks, the Brits, our neighbours, the Aussies, & the French (who bombed the Rainbow Warrior peace ship in our harbour & killed innocent people)..HANG ON..AREN'T WE SUPPOSED TO BE ALLIES? All power to the Kiwi's I say!
Our Armed Forces are really only available for peace-keeping assignments..and may they always remain so!
What right does any country have to interfere with anothers?
Is it because 'democracy' doesn't exist or is being threatened?
Yeah well, that's a double edged sword..those living comfy lives have no real idea what's going on in other countries..we learn from the slanted media.
On the other hand, if I thought something was really amiss I'd need to go and find out for myself...and that's why I've cast myself adrift & started visiting countries my friends & family think I shouldn't!
And I'm learning a thing or two from getting off my couch & out of my living room!
And by the way, how much power does Britain actually wield these days? A power-broker, or a pawn in a bigger game?
A pawn, in my opinion!

Nothing to do with monarchy. Nothing to do with democracy.
They see it as their responsibility as they created the situation after WW1, with the break up of the old Ottoman Empire.
Plus the fact that regardless of what is generally thought the old country still pulls nearly all the strings of most of the oil producing countries. Not maybe the newer oil producers, but definitely the old ones like Saudi, Iran, Iraq. Out of these three only Iran is the one which has not been created geographically by Great Britain.

It is not always a question of "interfering". It is quite simply that it is morally wrong to stand by and say nothing when one sees injustice and hardship and dangerous behaviour leading to wars, fermenting in other countries.
Looking back on history, people revile neutral countries like Switzerland, for example, for not speaking out on Nazi
groups in germany of the 1930s.
Every country has the right and the duty to point out that its fellow countries are behaving wrongly, and try to put things right.

Englands monarchy is only symbolic, they have no political power. The actual people in charge are elected by the people.
