I think its just the feeling of insecurity among us humans that creates a need for GOD. We always want to believe that there is someone bigger than us who cares about us and our welfare. Because our future is uncertain, we often don't have enough courage to face it with confidence so we want to believe in SOMEONE who will help us get through it and will give us confidence to face the future boldly.

Humans have been worshiping gods for a very long time, but can't seem to agree on which one is real. It's really just mythology because nobody has ever proved that a god exists. It's all based on irrational superstitious nonsense. Anyone with an education and logic can figure out that religious dogma is false.

Maybe they'll come up with 10, 20, or 30 gods. After all, the greeks had **** loads of gods. If they are chinese, probably their god(s) might look chinese. If they are female, it is possible it'll be a goddess. I mean, ya totally, we are hardwired to believe in one god.
The only reason why people came up with gods is to get to peace of mind with all the hard questions "who made us?" "why are we here?" "what is the purpose in life?" and "where do we go when we die?"

They might think the sun or the moon or the sea or the wind was god. Or may be the crabs on the beach or the shark by the reef. Any force that was more powerful than they.

We humans think too much, and require an explanation to everything we can observe and not understand, the solution of a God is the solution humans adopt until they have the real explanation.

It's because deep down inside they know there is a Higher power. Also, if they were very young and naive, they obviously don't know what death is, since they've never experienced it. So, saying that it's because they "want something more after death" would obviously be wrong.

No matter what way you choose to see God, you have to believe. There's no "hmm, should I do this?" just because someone tells you that you should. It's a choice, and you have to believe in what YOU believe, not what you are told
