Question: If this research turns out to be definitive, does it invalide the Bible as God's word?

Details of Violation: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/afs/cs/user/scotts/ftp/bulgarians/nih-upi.html If being gay is genetic, then God's own biblical pronouncements against homosexuality would be hypocritical to say the least. He would be punishing man for his own handywork (the "gay gene"). It would be roughly equivalent to labeling schizophrenia or Parkinson's Disease a sin! How will the church(s) respond?

we're WAY beyond the debate over the actual question (which, btw, was the most popular of any of the 160 or so I have posted). The question is NOW over Yahoo's censorship policy!

The system of "violations" here is essentially random, as far as I can tell. You can often get away with bloody murder, as it were, but you also get violation notices for benign postings - even more benign than yours. I've gotten two violation notices, and while one of them was for a mild insult (I've made FAR worse), one of them was for simply pointing out that a question made no sense, and asking for it to be reworded. My response was politely worded and my intentions were good - I was trying to be helpful, and I got a violation notice.

I realized that the system is random when I reported a question posted on 9/11 that asked something like "How can I fly an airplane into a building full of children?", and it was never deleted.

I strongly suspect that the people in charge of violations are so overworked that they have no hope of establishing a consistent system here. I don't think that any one of us is in a position to know about any biases in the system (say, political or religiously-based), though of course it'd be surprising if there weren't at least some conservative, pro-religion bias.

I hate to burst your bubble but Yahoo is not run by Christians.

I'm not religious, but having a "gay gene" doesn't disprove the Bible, which claims humans are born with a sinful nature. A "gay gene" is also far from being proven. I find it absurd to believe that all your sexual acts are predestined from your genetic code. Sexuality (i.e. interests, objects of desire, intensity) fluctuates throughout your existence. But the pro-gay crowd is in a hurry to factualize the "gay gene" in their haste to shut up gay-opponents.

You are basically aguing natural philosophy vs. the book of Genesis, a debate that has been taking place for millennia. Good luck.

I think that this is an interesting question. I'm not sure why people would report it, I think it is an interesting topic for debate. I agree with Aztec up there: the information does not dissprove the Bible in any way.

If you would like to discuss the topic further, feel free to contact me. I'm always up for a good debate! God bless!

if it is concidered a gene then it would probably have been caused through in breeding. also it would be concidered a defect in the gene and therefore something to be fixed by medication or genetic screening. since if it is a defect then it must be fixed or if left uncontained will infect the human race causing the human race to become extinct. since if homosexuality was practiced by 100% of the population it would cause the extinction of humanity within one generation. therefore it should be concidered a disease whether mental or genetic.

Yea, I've been getting my questions removed left and right. I've had two 'best answers' where the question was removed. I think someone is just playing a reverse point gaming game with me... probably one of those 'turn the other cheek' folk that was upset with my answers or questions.
Oh well, if it keeps them busy... LOL

Perhaps it falls under their SPAM guidelines? I don't know seems like a typical question to me. Ask the question again and leave out the link.

We respond as it's just another excuse to validate sin.
The "gay gene" is a hypothesis that cannot otherwise be proven. All sin is equal in God's eyes and He gives grace to all who want it. Otherwise, live your life the way you want to.
And It's not just Christians that have those rules either.

Being "gay" isn't genetic. A homosexual makes his own mind up to indulge in his own actions. We are the authors of our own actions in life, not God.

I suspect the questions that slur atheists are not being deleted.

Can you say 'vast right-wing (Christian) conspiracy'?
